Dancehall artiste Razor B is not affected by the flak he has been receiving for the scenes in the video for his ‘ Tongue’ single, which was released late last year.

The video, which was shot in Moods Nightclub in Montego Bay, shows provocative scenes that many have said are too racy for dancehall. The video also has a special feature from the controversial Bad Boy Trevor. While some consider it too explicit, Razor B opines that this is nothing new in music and some people are simply overreacting.

“Music imitates real life and that’s what I’m mirroring here. The streets in dancehall are provocative and highly sexual, that is the nature of our music and culture. We are sexy in words and movement and as an artiste I will feed into that and give my fans what they want. I honestly don’t think I went too far,” Razor B explained.

The artiste also believes it’s necessary to push the envelope when releasing new content, as this starts new conversations and sparks interest globally.

“Music changes with society at large and the music needs to reflect that. I like to push the boundaries, so if it creates shock and awe then it means people are paying attention. I want every girl to be proud and bold in owning their sexuality,” Razor B added.

Tongue is produced by Trill City Global and StreetCred Jamaica and is released on the ‘London Glow’ rhythm. Visuals for Tongue were directed by Rayebann Entertainment.
