Dancehall artiste Ironickal is banking on making a statement with his latest single, Mankind, which is a sobering assessment of the human race’s never-ending capacity for corruption, betrayal and violence.

“Man is a wolf to man,” said the artiste, whose given name is Jerone Thomas. “People dem can relate to lines like ‘ Mi laugh when dem switch up‘ because it comes from my own true experiences. The feedback on this song has been great so far and I have been hearing it playing at parties, corner shops and taxis, so I’m grateful for the listening ears.”

The single was released on the Skynation Records label.

Ironickal grew up in Kitson Town, St Catherine, and attended Eltham High School. He fell in love with music and took the name Ironickal. He recorded his first official release, Money Mission, which was produced by Nana Clarke Production, but the song failed to make an impression.

Ironickal said that he wants to create music that can establish a legacy of sorts.

“I want to continue making music that can last for decades. I’m working on a lot of new music and planning to release my EP in March,” he said.
